Job Description:


The King School Strength Coach will work together with the our Lead Strength Coach to design, develop and implement sports-specific strength, speed and conditioning training programs for our Upper School athletic teams and athletes, conduct strength and conditioning sessions for our Middle School students, supervise and maintain our Cardio and Weight Rooms, handling staffing and general upkeep, while overseeing equipment maintenance and replacement, and fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Dean of Athletics and Athletics Operations Director. The Strength Coach will be expected to teach, demonstrate and supervise proper techniques in the use of equipment, and to assist with training and development of coaches. Candidates must also be able to provide an environment that is conducive to the health and well-being of our students and teams and to be able to develop and maintain effective, positive interactions with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff and parents.

General weekday afternoon hours between 2:00-6:00pm (2.5-3.5 hours per day) and additional/flexible hours of coverage during August pre-season and school vacations (December-January and March), along with overall training and coverage calendar, to be worked out based on availability and schedule of candidates. The Strength Coach will also serve as a resource for the King Athletic Department, along with our athletes, teams and coaches, to ensure fitness content and teaching practices are current and consistent. The Strength Coach will also work with the athletic trainers and coaches to help monitor and track training programs and progress of athletes and teams.

The Strength Coach position is a part-time, stipend position, funded seasonally (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). The Strength Coach will also be asked to help develop health and wellness programming and to assist in establishing a schedule for additional staffing to cover facilities and programming.


Daily Responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities: The Strength Coach is responsible for supporting the Lead Strength Coach with the organization, management, administration and supervision of all aspects of the King School Cardio and Weight Rooms, including, but not limited to: Ensure safety of participants, adhering to strict risk management protocols and following emergency procedures. Create and implement general Cardio and Weight Room rules and regulations, along with opening and closing procedures, educating and enforcing policies regarding appropriate and proper use of the equipment and facilities. Keep equipment clean and functional, report safety concerns, schedule routine maintenance and repairs, and create replacement cycle for equipment. Maintain a positive and educational environment, including motivational and educational posters and literature. Motivate athletes to perform to their maximum potential, promoting a proper balance between athletics, athletic skills, resistance training, conditioning, and academics. Schedule strength and conditioning times for King athletes and teams (in and out of season), developing and demonstrating proper technique and training protocols for individual, group and team workouts and training. Advise and coordinate with head coaches to fulfill assigned responsibilities related to the strength and conditioning requirements for their sport and athletes. Identify the sport-specific needs of athletes and teams, implementing varying programs accordingly at the appropriate times of the year, combining strength-training techniques with proper conditioning drills. Give consideration to the time of the year in which athletes and teams train, varying programs accordingly. Set goals for both individual athletes and teams, evaluating performance levels by comparing athletes based on their sport and position needs. Be mindful of the special requirements of the multisport athlete and implement programs accordingly. Supervise and run strength and conditioning programming for select groups of Middle School students. Interact with the community in a professional manner, maintaining a positive working relationship, and promoting good morale, with parents and members of the faculty and staff. Job Requirements:


Successful candidates should have prior strength and conditioning coaching experience and/or a competitive background in athletics. A minimum of two years experience training student-athletes is preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Certification from either the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA CSCS) or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) also preferred. First Aid and CPR certification required. Highly motivated candidates, possessing strong leadership and communication skills, are encouraged to apply.
