Job Description:
Daily Responsibilities:
Provides individualized and small-group instruction to support students academic and social-emotional needs.
Collaborates with relevant staff to identify, monitor, and support students who are considered at-risk.
Partners with classroom teachers to design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
Utilizes developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula and instructional materials aligned to grade-level benchmarks and state learning expectations.
Delivers instruction using a variety of strategies that engage students, present new concepts clearly, and encourage exploration, expression, and independent thinking.
Modifies instructional plans as needed to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
Administers, collects, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative assessment data to inform instruction and monitor progress.
Builds strong relationships with families through consistent communication about the progress of at-risk and IEP students, and provides guidance on how families can support learning at home.
Participates in school-wide assessment processes to help identify student needs and inform instruction.
Provides teachers with resources, strategies, and recommendations to support effective intervention and differentiation in the classroom.
Refers students for additional special services when appropriate and follows required procedures.
Participates in IEP meetings to develop, review, and revise student plans and recommend appropriate supports.
Maintains organized records of student progress and ensures reporting is accurate and up to date.
Demonstrates understanding of federal and state Special Education laws and advocates for students rights and needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
State of Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification required.
At least 2 years of teaching experience required.
Bachelors Degree required.
Master's Degree preferred.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $52,720 $114,167, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
